Nationals Beat Dodgers, then Cardinals, then Astros to Win First World Series

As a long-time fan of the Washington Nationals, I have suffered through several failed opportunities to advance to a World Series. Up until this year, the team had never won an elimination game in any playoff series since the team moved to Washington, D.C. from Montreal in 2005.

Times have changed! In a 7-3 final game win over the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Division Series, followed by a four-game sweep over the St. Louis Cardinals in the NL Championship Series, the Nationals moved on to face the Houston Astros in the World Series.

As of 11:50 p.m. EDT last night (October 30), I can call the Nationals “World Champions” after winning Game 7 of a World Series where the home teams never won a game. In setting a ton of individual and team records, the Nationals never lost an elimination game on their road to the championship. I am proud to be a Nats fan.

Go Nats!
