Robert Dugoni and Kate Winkler Dawson were guests of The Poisoned Pen Bookstore in Scottsdale last night, where they discussed and signed their new books.
Robert’s novel, A Cold Trail, is the seventh his Tracy Crosswhite series. The book finds the Seattle homicide detective back in the town where she grew up, pulled into an investigation involving an arson victim who is not only the police chief’s wife but also a reporter investigating a 1993 cold case, the murder of a local teenager.
Kate’s book, American Sherlock, is a nonfiction work about Oscar Heinrich, also known as the “American Sherlock Holmes,” and the birth of modern forensic science. The book looks at some of the most well-known cases in the San Francisco Bay area during the Prohibition era.
This was a memorable evening for me. Both authors were enthusiastic, funny, knowledgeable, and willing to share stories about their books, their careers, and their lives.
