What I Have Read (So Far) in 2019

In addition to writing, I’ve been reading quite a bit this year. So far, I’ve read 17 fiction books, all but one a mystery (the one was a young adult novel), and 5 nonfiction books, all related to the writing profession.

If you’re looking for something to read that may keep you awake at night wondering “could that really happen” or “wow, how did he do that,” check out the list below.

In no particular order:

  • Need to Know by Karen Cleveland – Spies, spies, and more spies
  • Sandstorm by James Rollins – First in the Sigma Force series, a search for antiquities in the Arabian desert
  • Noir by Christopher Moore – A silly look at post-WWII San Francisco, complete with UFOs
  • Knots and Crosses by Ian Rankin – First in the Inspector John Rebus series, an Edinburgh police inspector tries to solve the abduction and murder of two young girls
  • Cave of Bones by Anne Hillerman – Fourth in the Bernadette Manuelito series, a Navajo tribal policeman attempts to solve a mystery in the desert Southwest
  • Invisible by Andrew Grant – An Army veteran gets a job as a courthouse janitor to root out corruption in the legal system
  • On Target by Mark Greaney – Second in the Gray Man series, an ex-CIA assassin on an impossible kidnapping mission
  • The Bone Collector  by Jeffery Deaver – First in the Lincoln Rhyme series, a brilliant criminologist matches wits with a madman
