The Poisoned Pen Bookstore in Scottsdale presented a trio of authors on Thursday, March 5. Award-winning writer John McMahon, the “veteran” of the group, signed his second P.T. Marsh novel, The Evil Men Do. The newbies, Russ Thomas and Don Bentley, signed their debut novels, Firewatching (Russ) and Without Sanction (Don).
John’s police procedural focuses on the brutal murder of a real estate baron. There are plenty of suspects and P.T. must examine what ordinary people may do when they become capable of evil.
In another police procedural, Russ tells the story of a cold-case reviewer in England, Adam Tyler, who finds himself in the middle of a high-profile murder investigation. The primary suspect is his recent one-night stand.
Don’s thriller centers on a Defense Intelligence Agency operative, Matt Drake, who survived a clandestine operation in Syria that went tragically wrong. He must return to save the life of a Pakistani scientist who has developed a weapon of mass destruction, and trusts no one except Matt to get him out alive.
